Volunteer Information

Hospice Associates volunteers offer important additional support for patients and their communities and may be called on to provide a range of services, some of which may include:
  • Respite Services - Volunteers may sit with and read to patients offering companionship for short periods of time, enabling family caregivers to run errands or to take time for themselves.
  • Emotional Support - Volunteers make home visits to listen to patients and families and offer them support.
  • Transportation - Volunteers may drive the patient to a doctor appointment or offer them an opportunity to get outdoors.
  • Hands-on Care - Volunteers may assist the caregiver with such tasks as moving or feeding a patient.
  • Bereavement Support - Volunteers may help to support caregivers through their grief for as long as 13 months after their loss.
